Dave Ball

Dave Bell used to play at folk clubs with Bob Ballam (below) in "Pendragon", and plays the guitar and mandolin

Nowadays he is a regular at Carlton Folk Club but this week he came with Bob to entertain us on a very slow night at the club when many members were either on holiday or visiting folk festivals around the country. He provided a very enjoyable and varied selection of songs in his sets.

His day job is repairing P.A. equipment such as amplifiers and mixer desks etc., and was instantly recognised on entering the club by one of his good customers, host - Brian Spencer.

Bob Ballam

Bob Ballam was another member of the "Pendragon" group mentioned above and although he loves to sing and play folk music, he is also a regular cellidh caller which takes up much of his time.

He entertained us with both amusing and evocative songs, including "Cats in the cradle", as well as "Big River", both lovely songs and well sung.

Asked to describe himself he says, he didn't find the Titanic and doesn't read the sports news on Radio 5.

Must be more than one Bob Ballam then eh?
