Folk Club Member: Annie Smith

I began playing the guitar, with a school friend, when I was a teenager living in Norfolk. Its only in the last two years that I have taken up the guitar again and started performing before an audience. My repertoire consists of a variety of songs, a bit of whatever’s out there! I am always chasing new material, anything which complements my voice and technique.

My favourite artists are James Taylor, Kate Rusby, Beth Nielsen Chapman, John Denver and Mary Black, to name a few. I love guitars and have possibly had more of them than hot dinners. My kitchen walls always get my best performance, though I am denied the customary applause!

I am in awe of the many talented musicians at folk clubs. I avidly watch and listen and aspire to play like them one day. Bingham Folk Club is most welcoming and inspiring. I am also a member of the Carrington Triangle Folk Club in Nottingham.
