Guests : The Lost Cause

1 May 2009

I have been unable to get to the club for a week or two and was at a pretty low ebb last Friday as the previous Wednesday had been the funeral of my younger brother. It was a joy to return to the club to see some of our familiar floor singers in the first half.

The second part of the evening featured 'The Lost Cause'. On a previous visit they had been four, now we got five for our money as they have added a fiddle player. They performed as if they were enjoying it - and so did the audience. It sounded so fresh, unlike some performers who give out the impression "I've done this song twenty times this year already - OK well lets do it !"

They were well practiced with good banjo instrumentals and they worked well as a group. I cannot think who the vocalist reminds me of but I liked him. We did lose some words and perhaps some voice amplification would have been of benefit. Nevertheless, a great night, a good variety of songs and tunes - a real treat. Come again soon.
