I had been looking forward for weeks to seeing Jez at Bingham Folk Club, as he is one of my favourite acts, particularly when he is operating solo.

I last saw him in Loughborough about six months ago, and to be honest, I didn't think it was one of his better nights. I have thought for some time that, to my ears at least, Jez's later material is not quite up to the standard of that from say, eight to ten years ago.

No problems with this performance though - it was straight out of the top drawer, as they say in my native Lancashire!

Jez did a lot of older material, including several requests, along with some of his better later stuff. Some artists will flatly refuse to attempt anything that is not "in practice", but not Jez - and you wouldn't have known that some of the songs had probably not been performed for a while.

As always I was amazed at the marvellous guitar sound that Jez produces. He uses almost no standard tunings, and the result is, to my ears, quite unique.

An absolutely fabulous night's entertainment, enjoyed I'm sure by everyone present.
