Guest : Graham Cooper

10 February 2006

Despite several of the regulars missing due to winter colds, there was a fantastic turn out with faces old and new to hear Graham Cooper - his reputation had gone before him!

He had travelled from Portugal where he now lives spending his time between gigs and teaching at the international music school in the Algarve.

Graham entertained us with some humorous reminiscences of the Cambridge Folk festival in the 70’s and antics with his old friends Steve Goodman and Harvey Andrews.

A varied programme of music was enjoyed throughout the evening including :- January Man, Cats in the Cradle, a hilarious self composed computer song, John Tams' Dancing in the Golden Ballroom, and a moving rendition of Eric Bogle’s Leaving the Land.

Graham sang an unaccompanied song which he had written and played an instrumental fiddle tune on his guitar. He has a wonderful guitar technique - good to listen to and a pleasing rapport with the audience. He finished with Whisky Jack and an encore of Early Morning Rain with everyone singing along.

It was certainly a memorable evening enjoyed by all.
